What if our issue with Barack Obama wasn’t his color but was his handicap? Not in any mental sense that effected his judgment or his positions held before he decided to run for office. Similar limitations have kept previous presidents such as Truman from giving speeches where observers could view his physical disability. In an age of multimedia and telecommunications was there ever chance for a man of his stature, ability, and charisma to possess a handicap? As American society we accept that which was previously decided as an unacceptable condition: BLACK is now acceptable for main stage and office. In the post-Obama era of America African-American’s have a torch to carry for the other disadvantaged. If there is a Mexican-American who is running for president, African-American’s aren’t expected to vote solely for the candidate because of race. Yet, if the African-American voter voted only for Barack because of his color then, those citizens have a duty to be consistent. Voting with the same diligence and fervor from 2008 is required. Whites don’t admit it much but affirmative action wouldn’t exist if white men didn’t vote for it in the house, senate, and sign it in the executive office of America. Constant upheaval is the only way that society can continue to function with the advent of new portions of the American pie. If apples were the only fruit in the pie we would have very bland pie that only a few people could eat till they die.
